Its a play about
Afghanistan which covers the last three decades of war and life of
Afghans. Directed by Helene Cinque, Ce jour-là is a clear vision of
what Afghans are and how did they live till the fall of Taliban. Ce jour-là was made through real life stories of actors in Aftaab Theatre and improvasations that took place during the 8 month their stay in Paris, France (2009). Aftaab performed it with Le Tartuffe in France and they are looking forward to show it to Afghans in 2010. |
Romeo and Juliet was
the first play performed by Aftaab Theatre. Written by Shakespeare
and directed by Maurice Durozier. This play was performed 3 times in
Afghanistan and once in Tajikistan - 2005. We are thankful to the FCCS for giving us a place to rehears. Those were the times, when Aftaab had to start and the first few steps are always the hardest ones. Thank you Shaghayegh Beheshti and Nathalie Joly for helping use during the performance. |
The play started
actually when Aftaab was in France - 2006. Aftaab got there by the
financial and non-financial aids of Theatre du Soleil for which we
are very thankful and are still getting aided by them. (Not
financially) Le Tartufffe, one of Moliere most famous plays was directed by Helene Cinque and performed by Aftaab half in Paris and then complete in Afghanistan. The play has been performed since then for more then 15 times in Paris, Pakistan and Afghanistan. (2007-2008) Tartuffe was a Christian Priest played by Arif Bahunar. |
Written by Brecht and
directed by Arash Absalan, this was Aftaab's 3rd play. It was
completed in Afghanistan and then performed in India, Afghanistan
and Paris - France. The play was first performed in Afghanistan 2007. Absalan is a Director/Actor/Writer and a professor of theatre in Tehran University of Iran. The 1st Iranian directed Afghan play which broke all the walls between the actors and the audience. It got very famous because audiences were involved in the play. (2007-2008) Aftaab was praised more then ever for this performance. |
